“ The best pizza in Jerusalem; possibly the best in Israel, IMO. This place is a one-off, not a chain, and therefore the pizza is handmade to the highest quality. As such, it may take a few minutes longer than your average multi-store generic pizza experience, it's not staffed by goofballs, it doesn't keep very late hours, and it may cost a shekel more – but it's worth it to support an independent local business using the best ingredients. They have fresh salads and pasta also. The shop is suitable for families, solo eaters, or anyone. After experience and fact-checking, I can tell you that the prices for full pizza pies and slices are almost equivalent to Big Apple Pizza (my second-favorite NY-style pizza place), and American Pie's prices have only increased two shekels in the past 7 years – like everyone else. American Pie Pizza has had one owner and one location since opening many years ago, and he still bakes in the shop almost every day (not on Shabbat, the shop is certified Kosher). The pizza itself is the closest I've found internationally to my cherished New York pizza shops. The shop is small and funky, with a rock-n-roll decor and handmade graffiti on the walls (bring a marker to contribute), a patio in the back between two buildings, and a tiny seating area on the front sidewalk. Nice to people-watch on Derech Beit Lechem. American Pie Pizza also serves the traditional spices, including garlic powder, spicy chili flakes, oregano, etc. Proper napkins are available if you are put off by the giant industrial roll of paper. I keep their number on speed dial for pick up and delivery. ”

“ Nice pizza but pretty pricy - 14 NIS per slice. The pizza was fresh and crispy. Mine had pesto and goat cheese, great combination. There are a few tables where you can sit, though the place is not that cozy. I've been to much nicer pizza places. The owner is pretty nice. Every now and then there was a beeping sound, probably an alarm for the owner to take the pizza out of the oven. It took the owner a significant amount of time to turn it off, which I found very annoying, and distracting. ”
